MINORS TRAVELING:

**For anyone under 18, there must be one adult per 6 students.  Males must have male chaperones and females must have female chaperones. Sleeping areas are divided by sex and couples will not be sleeping together. YAI tries to keep Priests and Religious separated in sleeping areas. ** ALL Minors must completely fill out the Minor Release Form and have BOTH legal parent's signatures.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

1.       We know from our experience in Rome electrical plugs are at a premium, so don’t assume you will be able to plug in cell phones, hair dryers, curling irons, or computers.  Adapters will be needed. They can be purchased at a local Radio Shack.  We suggest you keep hairdryers and curling irons at home, remember this is a pilgrimage.

2.       We realize Priests desire to sleep and dress separately from the rest of the group albeit in the same facility.  We hope to be able to accommodate this request in Germany. You may have to stay in a rectory or private home if accommodations can not be worked out in the same facility as your group. Please bring your own Alb and Stole to concelebrate Mass.

3.       Group Leaders: Keep a copy of all paperwork for your group with you in Germany in case of some emergency. Remember: the age limit is 16–35 for the medical insurance coverage.  If you bring anyone under the age of 16, they must be accompanied by a parent due to the WYD insurance age limit.

Leaders remember to have a medical and liability release signed by the parents of minors. Each group can write their own, individually. We do not need copies. Please give great thought to those adults you bring with you as chaperones.  They must be able to keep up with the rigors of the events and all the walking required. There must be one adult chaperone per 6 students under 18.  If you have a group of 3 girls and 3 boys, you will need one male and one female chaperone.  Chaperones are to be with their assigned students 24 hours a day.

4.       We found in Rome that Teens and young Adults like Pizza and other fast food items so keep that in mind when planning how much money each person should bring with them. The food will be provided, but they may have different tastes or just want to go out and have a different experience.

5.       Due to the increased kidnappings of minor children by non-custodial parents the U.S. Customs Service requires the parent not traveling with their child to give permission for the other parent to take their child out of the country.   If your parents are divorced or not living together and you have access to both parents, you must have both parents’ signatures. If a parent is deceased have the other parent write a statement to that effect including dates.  If your parent has always been a single person and you have no relationship with your other parent then write that info on the permission slip. A parent traveling with an underage Teen must have written permission from the parent staying at home to remove this child from the United States, regardless of marital status. Every Group leader should keep a copy of this and the child should have a copy with them as well in case of any questions by authorities.
